Now Playing Tracks

I do realize that this is Tumblr and the title of my post is not going to fly with everybody (do people still say “fly”?) but, this is my opinion and I’m going to share it. So…yeah.

Today I read an interesting article about a wrestler who has been bombarded by fans every where he goes. Now, you hear this all the time, whether it’s celebrities or singers or whoever is on tv. I guess I don’t really think about it. I’ve never had the privilege of meeting some famous person before. Honestly, what’s the big deal? With all due respect, I’m fairly certain that their poop smells too. I mean, I get it. I’ve been and possibly still am (up until now maybe) one of those fans that just doesn’t know how to say things normally when speaking about that “amazing” individual that just happens to be on tv. But seriously, why is it that we have to get all crazy when we see a favorite actor or celebrity of some kind in public? If this person was NOT on tv and we knew nothing about them, we wouldn’t bother running after them or begging for an autograph when we see them in the restroom, right? RIGHT?!

This is starting to annoy me all of the sudden. I honestly never gave it much thought before. But after reading that article about…that wrestler, I thought, “That’s gotta blow chunks.” I admit, if you look at my tumblr, it’s full of celebrities and what not. Yes I’m a huge fan of particular people. I admire their work, their art, their passion for what they do. But mostly, I think I wish I could get out there and do something spectacular too!

Why do we waste so much time on blogging about famous people we admire when we should be spending more time on what WE can contribute to this life we so mindlessly drift through? I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t made too much of an effort when it comes to making my “dreams” come true. Yes, it takes time, yes it takes money, and yes it takes HARD WORK. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t mean anything.

I guess what I’m saying is, maybe we should stop focusing so much on the rest of the world and start looking at ourselves. I’m not saying, stop going to the movies or cheering your favorite wrestler at a show. All I’m saying is, we should leave their life to them and focus on our own lives. When it comes right down to it, we’re ALL just people trying to make it in this world.
